What to expect

Our bike tour starts in front of the Old Olive in Kastel Stafilic. It is a 1500-year-old Mastrinka olive tree, among the oldest olive trees in Europe and one of the symbols of Kaštela. After a quick briefing we’ll hop on our bikes, put on helmets and start our bike tour.
We’ll head off to the west, towards the first landmark on our schedule – Rotondo Castle located at the seafront in Kaštel Štafilić. After a short break here to take the pictures, we’ll get back on the bikes again and we’ll pedal through some atmospheric alleys and along the picturesque Kaštela Riviera, cycling past charming stone houses, castles, churches and fishermen’s boats and stopping at the most important historical sights in Kaštel Novi and Kaštel Stari.
Then it’s off to Kaštel Lukšić, with the beautifully renovated 16th-century Vitturi Castle, home to City museum. Here we will take a break to hear the intriguing legend of Miljenko and Dobrila, local Shakespearean lovers, and then continue to pedal east along the Kaštela Bay. In between cycling, you will have plenty of opportunities to chat with other people in your group or to take photos at the top monuments. Our last stop will be at Kaštel Gomilica and its enchanting Kaštilac Castle, a fortified settlement built on an islet, dating back to 1545. We will pass the stone bridge and take a quick look inside the walls, where some of the houses are still in use, but most of them are deserted. Nevertheless, Kaštilac is surely the most picturesque of all the castles and we will finish our sightseeing with a photo session in front of the castle before heading back towards Kaštel Kambelovac. Once there, we will pay visit to a typical Dalmatian tavern by the sea where you will have a snack and taste some of the favorite Dalmatian quick bites. With all this action, you’ve surely built up an appetite by now and you will enjoy sampling the world-known Drniški pršut, some savory Dalmatian cheese and tasty tuna pate, accompanied by a glass of locally produced red wine – great way to start steering towards that magical midday siesta, one of the many joys of the holidays.

Good to know: Please note that on this tour we do not visit the inside of monuments and museums.
